Breaking News: Presidency smuggles amended 2016 budget into National Assembly today
A new 2016 budget, totally different in content from the one presented to the National Assembly on December 22, 2015 by President Mohammadu Buhari will surface in the Senate tomorrow.
The same source, who hinted WazobiaReporters of the 2016 budget withdrawal from the Senate on January 4, 2016, disclosed that the new budget was taken to the Clerk of the Senate at 6pm today.
“Photocopies of the ‘amended version’ of the budget will be made tonight and distributed to Senators tomorrow with the impression that nothing happened to the budget.
“The one presented on December 22, 2015 was not read by the president and it was when Nigerians started criticising its provisions that the both the hard and soft copies of the budget were hurriedly withdrawn.
Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, today, confirmed that the upper chamber has empanelled a high powered Senate search team to fish out the missing fiscal document.
The cat of the missing document was let out of the bag by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, (Abia South) who came under Senate Standing Order 42.
Order 42 deals with Matter of urgent national importance which the Senate is bound to consider if the Senate President allows it.
Abaribe told the Senate that the grievous issue of the “missing and disappearance of the 2016 budget proposal” was widely reported in the media Tuesday.
